Walmley Golf Club member Alf Thrush celebrated his 100th birthday at
the Golf Club on Saturday 16th February. Alf who has been a member for
65 years was joined in the festivities by his wife Olwen and many friends.

The Captain of the Club Steve Ward and President Mike Simpson
presented Alf with a selection of his favourite tipple - Malt Whisky.

Alf, who was Captain of the Club in 1966 and President in 1972, still takes
a keen interest in the game and was playing regularly until very recently.

When asked for his secret of a long and healthy life Alf said he didn't really
know but thought that belonging to the best Golf Club in the Midlands
had helped.
