WALMLEY WELCOME FOR MIDLANDS GOLF CHAMPION
Former European Tour player and PGA Midland Region Champion, Matt Morris, has been appointed Director of Golf. Alongside his other professional and course management duties at the club, Morris will be providing members and visitors with outstanding tuition, retail and golf events services.
The 31-year-old Midlander has been playing golf for over 20 years and qualified as a PGA professional in 1998. He has enjoyed several years on the European Tour and Challenge Tour, while also undertaking a successful national and regional tournament schedule in the UK. His career highlights have included the winning of the Danish Open in 2004 and the Midland Region Order of Merit in 2007, as well as being the only PGA Professional to make the cut at the prestigious BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth in 2008.
'Alongside my tour commitments, I have always welcomed opportunities to provide golf tuition to groups and individuals; specialising in bringing tour standard knowledge and teaching methods to local golfers,' states Morris. 'This is something I am now keen to extend exclusively to members and visitors at Walmley Golf Club.'
'I see the Director of Golf as being the heartbeat of a golf club and the first point of contact for members, whatever their golfing requirements,' says Morris. 'As such, I'm really looking forward to the variety offered by this role, from meeting and greeting golfers, to assisting with course management and tournament preparations. I am also keen to develop the overall standard of play throughout the club; thereby helping them to re-stock their trophy cabinet!'
