Dress Code

Dress Code on the Course and in the Clubhouse for visiting Golfers and Societies to Walmley Golf Club, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands:

Dress on the Course:

  1. Only recognised golf attire may be worn.
  2. Jeans, braces, training shoes, tracksuits or shell suits may not be worn. Trousers may not be tucked into socks.
  3. Shirts and blouses may have small inscriptions that occupy only part of one side but may not bear large inscriptions that stretch from side to side or can be read at a distance. Shirts must be tucked into trousers at all times.
  4. Tailored shorts may be worn with either knee length hose or white sports socks.
  5. All players should refer to and observe the dress code displayed in the clubhouse
Dress in the Clubhouse:
  1. Formal dress is required in the Gentlemen's Lounge whenever it is separated from the Mixed Lounge by closing the folding partition.
  2. Formal dress is required in the Dining Room for specified functions.
  3. Smart casual dress may be worn in the Lounge and Dining Room.
  4. To enter the snooker room, Members and Visitors must be dressed appropriately for entry to the Lounge.
  5. Formal dress necessitates jacket, long trousers, collar and tie; bomber of blouson jackets are not acceptable.
  6. Jeans, braces, shorts, training shoes, track suits or shell suits are not acceptable upstairs in the Clubhouse at any time.
  7. Shirts and blouses may have small inscriptions that occupy only part of one side but may not bear large inscriptions that stretch from side to side or can be read at a distance.
  8. In the Clubhouse spikes and other golf shoes may be worn only in the locker rooms. Spikes are not allowed on the balcony.
  9. Outdoor garments must be left in the cloakrooms or locker rooms.
  10. The dress requirements for ladies will be determined and published by the Ladies Committee subject to approval of the General Committee.
Etiquette on the Course:
  1. Members are expected to observe Section I of the Rules of Golf, which deals with courtesy on the Course, and with Care of the Course.
  2. In addition:

    a) golf bags are not to be placed on greens.
    b) practice chipping to greens is not allowed; the practice area should be used.
    c) rakes should be placed in the bunkers with the handle pointed toward the tee after use.
    d) a single player must not have more than two balls in play simultaneously.
